Conflict Catcher includes a reference library that contains descriptions and contact information, including web addresses with direct email links to thousands of vendors' customer service/technical support departments. All via your internet browser!
Web menu automatically launches your browser and takes you to hot Macintosh web sites for trouble shooting and general Macintosh information.
Manage ANY folder connected to an application, or within the Extensions, Control Panels, System Folder, Apple Menu Items, Fonts, or Preferences folders.
Automated Conflict Testing if your crash occurs at startup time!
Conflict Catcher's main widow has been further enhanced with startup file and folder icons for an even more intuitive user experience.
Improved, more intuitive Conflict Testing interface.
Grouped Links can now be seen in Conflict Catcher's main window for easy tracking!
Conflict Catcher now lists startup files by Package, Load Time, Version, and Date Changed in addition to Date Installed, Enabled, Folder, Kind, Load Order, Memory Use, and Name.
Reads and converts earlier Conflict Catcher preferences, and can import Extensions Manager 4 and Now Startup Manager Sets and Links. Also, Conflict Catcher 4 now supports printing Sets and Links.
Built -in AppleScript support.
Senses which system you are running and gives you the appropriate System 7.x Set.
Date Changed View
In Conflict Catcher's main window you can now view your startup files by the last date they changed status. This means that Conflict Catcher will let you know the last time you enabled or disabled your startup files. If you decide to run a Conflict Test, the Date Changed date will represent the date of the Conflict Test.
This feature does not represent the last time you updated versions of your startup files.
Both the Date Changed and Date Installed dates start from the first date Conflict Catcher sees the startup file(s).
Comparing Sets
Conflict Catcher's new Compare Sets feature allows you to compare two different Sets of startup files from its main window. When comparing Sets, startup files that show up in light grey hold the opposite setting or are not shown in the Set you are comparing the current Set to.
CopyPaste™ 3.x.x
If CopyPaste 3 is installed, when editing a startup file's description, the Edit menu's items will be stippled. This will prevent you from copying or pasting by selecting the items from the menu bar, but keyboard commands will still function.
Now Startup Manager Set Load Order
Conflict Catcher empowers you to change the load order of your startup files globally to avoid any possible confusion and to maintain a consistent operating environment for your Macintosh. Therefore, Sets imported from Now Startup Manager will not alter your current Conflict Catcher load order.
Locking On Necessary Files During Conflict Testing
An important aspect of the Conflict Testing process is checking to see if the problem that you're trying to solve still exists. Under some circumstances, services that you depend on to be able to make this check are actually provided by startup files that are part of the test. Since all startup files included in the test are enabled and disabled as part of the testing process, it may be necessary to "lock" some files "on". Please refer to the Conflict Testing portion of the manual for further explanation.
Using Internet Config with Conflict Catcher 4
Internet Config is a separate application and NOT part of Conflict Catcher. As a result, Casady & Greene cannot document the product or provide you with technical support for it. We will, however, provide you with a few pointers for it's use with Conflict Catcher.
If you enable Conflict Catcher's "Use Internet Config" option, it's preferred browser will automatically override a browser specified with the "Select Browser" button in the Internet preferences panel.
Clicking the "Configure..." button opens Internet Config's "universal" Internet preferences. These preferences will affect ALL applications using Internet Config.
When you open Internet Config, Conflict Catcher is placed in the background. You will need to reactivate Conflict Catcher by clicking on the grayed out Preferences dialog or by selecting it from the Application Menu in the upper right corner of your screen.
